About Santa Maria delle Grazie
This is a congregation and Dominican cloister in Milan, northern Italy, incorporated into the UNESCO World Heritage locales list. The congregation contains the wall painting of The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, which is in the refectory of the convent.
The Duke of Milan Francesco I Sforza requested development of a Dominican religious community and a congregation at the site of an earlier house of prayer committed to the Marian dedication of St Mary of the Graces. The primary modeler, Guiniforte Solari, composed the religious circle, which was finished by 1469.
Development of the congregation took decades. Duke Ludovico Sforza chose to have the congregation fill in as the Sforza family internment site and revamped the order and the apse, both finished after 1490. Ludovico's significant other Beatrice was covered in the congregation in 1497.
