About Nonantola
Nonantola is an Italian metropolis of 15,921 inhabitants in the province of Modena, in Emilia Romagna, positioned approximately 10 kilometers from Modena within the course of Ferrara and alongside the Provincial Road 255 Nonantolana is part of the Unione Del Sorbara. The oldest finds within the Nonantolan region date again to the Bronze Age, 16th to 13th century BC, while the terramaricola civilization evolved in the Padana region. Civilization later replaced within the location by the Villanova, Etruscan and Gallo Celtic. Finally the Romans, in 182 BC, founded a colony of 90 centurias nonaginta, then Nonatula and ultimately Nonantola.
In 751 AD the duke of Friuli Anselmo received from the Long bard king Astolfo the lands that have been on the borders with the Byzantine Exarchate, with the undertaking of strengthening them, developing routes of verbal exchange from north to south. In 752 Anselmo consecrated a church to the Holy Apostles, founding a Benedictine monastery, as a strong outpost for consolidating the Lombard penetration to the east Panaro, controlling communications among Bologna and the Piacenza and Verona strains.
