About Loggia del Bigallo

The Loggia del Bigallo is a late Gothic working in Florence, district of Tuscany, Italy. It remains at the edge of Piazza San Giovanni and by means of Calzaioli; convention holds the site close to the Baptistry of Florence was given by a benefactor.This building is one of twelve open loggias in the city, and is connected with two cliques or organizations managing neighborhood charity.The Compagnia della Misericordia, or "Organization of Mercy", was worried about the vehicle of the wiped out, entombment of the poor dead, and the care of vagrants.

The open loggia served to shield lost kids and undesirable newborn children who were deserted to the care of the brotherhood.The Compagnia di Santa Maria del Bigallo or just del Bigallo, was established in 1244 by Saint Peter of Verona, Saint Peter Martyr, and was once in the past housed close Orsanmichele.
