Formigine

Formigine is an Italian city of 34,537 inhabitants within the province of Modena in Emilia Romagna. The town is placed approximately 10 km south of Modena and is a part of the Union of Municipalities of the Ceramic District. Born round 1201 collectively with the construction of the castle constructed by way of the municipality of Modena to defend the border with the municipality of Reggio Emilia, already inside the 14th century the metropolis had reached a certain consistency.

From 1395 Nicolo III d Este granted the fief to Marco I Pio, lord of Carpi.
