About Duomo of Como
Como Cathedral is the Roman Catholic house of prayer of the city of Como, Lombardy, Italy, and the seat of the Bishop of Como.
It is devoted to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is 87 meters in length, from 36 to 56 meters wide, and 75 meters high into the highest point of the vault.
It has a Latin cross floor design with a focal nave and two side paths, isolated by columns, and a Renaissance transept, with a forcing dome over the intersection.
The apses and the choir are of the sixteenth century.
The inside has some essential embroidered works of art, and others of the sixteenth and seventeenth hundreds of years, made in Ferrara, Florence, and Antwerp.
There are likewise ious sixteenth-century sketches by Bernardino Luini and Gaudenzio Ferrari.
