The Chiesa degli Ottimati, also called Santa Maria Annunziata, is a Roman Catholic church placed on Via Castello in the city of Reggio Calabria within the area of Calabria, Italy. The history of this church is documented as early as the 10th century. The gift call derives from a Norman confraternity that rebuilt the church, and dedicated it to the Virgin of the Annunciation. The Ottimati have been a congregation of nobles based by way of the Normans. Over time, these blanketed the Filocamo, Griso, Altavilla and Borboni. The unique format appears to had been a Greek go, with more than one domes. The Normans beneath Roger II, constructed a church on top, disposing of among the domes.
In 1597, the church commissioned a new painting of the Annunciation by using Agostino Ciampelli. By the 18th century, the church turned into affiliated with the Jesuits, and a school was adjacent. With the suppression of the Jesuits in 1767, the church fell empty. It become broken by means of earthquakes in 1783 and 1908. The church rebuilt after 1908 moved from the authentic area, and became completed in 1933, using a layout via Pompilio Seno, who followed a neo-Byzantine style with Arab-Norman factors. Some elements from the destroyed Norman basilica of Santa Maria di Terreti have been used.
