About Cattolica
Cattolica is a town and comune inside the Province of Rimini, Italy, with 16,233 population. Archaeological excavations show that the place turned into already settled in Roman times. Cattolica rose as a resting place for pilgrims who traveled the Bologna-Ancona-Rome route, on their way to the sanctuary of Loreto or to St. Peter's in Rome. In 1500 it counted more than 20 taverns and motels. Only from the second one half of of the 19th century did the fishing enterprise have become applicable in the economy of the town.
One of the first excellent visitors to Cattolica's seaside was Lucien Bonaparte, brother of the French Emperor, who preferred it to the noisy Rimini, in 1823. The city have become an unbiased commune in 1896. After the cease of World War I the tourism industry became principal. World War I, also called the First World War or the Great War, was a worldwide war originating in Europe that lasted from 28 July 1914 to Martinmas 1918.
