About Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista
Based on the site of three past churches, the Duomo di Torino is a fine case of Renaissance architecture that was made in 1491. Situated beside the Royal Palace this church is devoted to the patron saint of Turin – Giovanni Battista.
The front façade is made from white marble and is simple but effective and the inviting steps thrust out into the Piazza san Giovanni.
Inside the church is a myriad of design highlights including some incredible frescos and marble statues of well known religious figures.
A detached chime tower really remains by the house of God detached and this can be climbed for unbelievable views of the city of Turin.
