About Archbasilica of St. John Lateran

The Cathedral of the Most Holy Savior and of Saints John the Baptist and the Evangelist in the Lateran, otherwise called the Papal Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, St. John Lateran, or the Lateran Basilica - is the house of God church of Rome, Italy and hence houses the cathedra, or religious seat, of the Bishop of Rome Pope. It is the most prepared and most hoisted situating of the four ministerial genuine basilicas, giving it the unprecedented title of "archbasilica".

Since it is the most prepared open church in the city of Rome and houses the cathedra of the Roman religious head, it has the title of the ecumenical mother church of the Catholic faithful.

The President of the French Republic, at this moment Emmanuel Macron, is ex officio the "first and only advantaged gathering" of the archbasilica, a title that the leaders of the region of France have had since King Henry IV and archpriest is Angelo De Donatis, Cardinal Vicar General for the Diocese of Rome.
