About Omer
Omer is an upscale city in the Southern District of Israel, bordering Beersheba. It is placed on Highway 60, among Beersheba and the Shoket Junction. In 2017 it had a population of 7,613. Omer, initially known as Hevrona, was based as a kibbutz in 1949. The early residents were demobilized Palmach soldiers. In 1951, it have become a cooperative village called Eilata. In 1953, it became re-hooked up as a communal moshav by means of immigrants from Hungary and Romania and renamed Omer.
The name is primarily based on a verse from the e book of Leviticus. In 1957, residents of the ma'abarot within the vicinity moved to Omer. In 1962, it became renamed Tomer and became a community of Beersheba. Since 1974, it's been an impartial metropolis and suburb of Beersheba. Pini Badash has served as mayor on account that 1990.
