About Negev Museum of Art
The Negev Museum of Art is a craftsmanship historical center in Negev, Israel. It is situated in the Old City of Be'er Sheva. The building is the previous Governor's Mansion, worked in 1906 by the Ottomans as a component of government structures that incorporate the Seraya and the nearby mosque. The two-story building is a common Ottoman "konak" house: the home of a senator or some different dignitaries, in which official gathering and gatherings are held. Its exterior has a four curved colonnade.
The historical center is a city exhibition hall and it has an accumulation of generally present day Israeli workmanship, including nearby and provincial specialists. In its beginning periods, as a wing of the Negev Museum of Archeology it showed its changeless accumulation and intermittent displays. Since 1987, under the directorship of Noa Tal, the gallery began to work freely, showing brief presentations of Israeli and universal workmanship. Amid the 1990s, under the directorship of Galia Gavish, the exhibition hall extended its gathering particularly in earthenware production and ethnographic works of Ethiopian Jews. Gavish additionally started a global Ceramics Biennial in Be'er Sheva.
The historical center has run a serious program of shows of real Israeli specialists and of worldwide craftsmen. The last display of the year was committed to the 50th commemoration to the Monument to the Negev Brigade consolidating a performance show of Dani Karavan, the Monument maker, and a gathering show of different craftsmen who shot it or were roused by it, among them Yaacov Agor and Yael Bartana. The show was joined by live occasions on the site of the landmark and a worldwide symposium held at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
