About Monument to the Negev Brigade
The Monument to the Negev Brigade, referred to locally as the Andarta, is a landmark outlined by Dani Karavan in memory of the individuals from the Palmach Negev Brigade who fell battling on Israel's side amid the 1948 Arab Israeli War. It is arranged on a slope sitting above the city of Beersheba from the east and constitutes a perceived image of the Negev and Beersheba. Notwithstanding its qualities as a remembrance, it was an antecedent to the land craftsmanship development.
The landmark was worked somewhere in the range of 1963 and 1968 when Israel was making numerous physical dedications to the individuals who battled and kicked the bucket in its wars. It is made of crude cement comprising of eighteen separate components covering 10,000 square meters. These components are representative and associated with Palmach and to the War of Independence.
The punctured pinnacle insinuates a watchtower shelled with gunfire and the pipeline burrow is reminiscent of the divert of water in the Negev protected by the warriors. Engraved in the solid are the names of the 324 fighters who kicked the bucket in the war, the identification of the Palmach, journal entries from the troopers, the fight registry, verses from the Bible 2 Kings 2:12 and melodies.
