Jaffa Port

Jaffa and its port have a history crossing more than three centuries. The port itself is specified in different old works, including the Hebrew Bible, for example, the book of Jonah, and crafted by Josephus portraying Jewish history and the First Jewish Revolt against Rome. For more than 7,000 years it has been effectively utilized, originating before Muslims, Christians, Jews, and even Egyptians. Still useful as a little angling port, the port is at present a recreational zone highlighting eateries and bistros. A beacon, Jaffa Light, is situated over the port.

In 1917, amid World War I, British troops under General Allenby vanquished the Ottomans and took Jaffa, which turned out to be a piece of the British-managed Palestine Mandate 1922– 1948. In 1947 and 1948 there was sharp battling between Jaffa, which was to a great extent possessed by Arabs, and the connecting Jewish city of Tel Aviv. On 13 May 1948 multi day before the decree of the State of Israel, the Arab powers in Jaffa were vanquished after long battling with the Zionist underground Haganah and Irgun Zva'i Leumi powers. On 24 April 1950, the Jewish city of Tel Aviv and the Arab city of Jaffa were brought together, and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality was set up.
