About El-Jazzar Mosque
The el-Jazzar mosque, also called the White Mosque, is located on el-Jazzar Street in the partitions of the antique city of Acre, overlooking the japanese Mediterranean Sea, and is known as after the Ottoman Bosnian governor Ahmad Pasha el-Jazzar. The el-Jazzar Mosque was the challenge of its namesake, Ahmad Pasha el-Jazzar, the Acre-based totally governor of the Sidon and Damascus provinces, who was similarly famous for his cruelty, astounding public works, and defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at the Siege of Acre in 1799. El-Jazzar ordered the mosque's construction in 1781 and had it completed inside the year.
Despite missing architectural education, el-Jazzar become the architect of the 7 mosque, drawing up its plans and layout, and supervising its entire production. In addition to the mosque itself, the complicated included an Islamic theological academy with scholar accommodations, an Islamic courtroom and a public library. The mosque become built for non secular purposes, however its grandiose size and further features were also meant by el-Jazzar to serve as a method of consolidating his political legitimacy as ruler of Syria.
