About Newbridge
Newbridge, officially acknowledged by its Irish name Droichead Nua, is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. While the close by Great Connell Priory was founded in the 13th century, the metropolis itself fashioned from the 18th century onwards, and grew unexpectedly along a navy barracks which opened within the early 19th century. Taking on the call Newbridge within the 20th century, the town increased to aid the neighborhood catchment, and also as a commuter town for Dublin.
Doubling in population at some point of the twenty years among 1991 and 2011, its population of twenty-two,742 in 2016 makes it the biggest town in Kildare and the fifteenth-largest in Ireland. The Irish language call of the city is the reputable name, "An Droichead Nua", that means clearly "The New Bridge" and was introduced within the 1930s. Noble and Keenan's map of Kildare 1752, drawn before the metropolis became started, marks 'The New Bridge' within the area of 'Old Connel'. A number of other places marked in this map, including Ballymany and Morristown Biller, are represented in the names of modern-day housing estates and streets.
