National 1798 Rebellion Centre
About National 1798 Rebellion Centre
National 1798 Rebellion Centre is a historical past centre dedicated to the history of the 1798 Rebellion positioned in Enniscorthy, County Wexford. The Centre is housed inside a redeveloped Christian Brothers' faculty. It is funded from the Operational Programme for Tourism, non-public donations and nearby fund-elevating. Upon arrival the visitors crosses "the bridge of democracy" out of doors the building. The exhibitions cowl some of themes: pre-Revolutionary Europe, the unfold of revolution, the Irish context, the United Irishmen, the chain of battles in May and June 1798, Vinegar Hill, and the aftermath of the rise up.
The exhibitions include dioramas and interactive shows. The Centre closed for a length, reopening in 2013, to facilitate a refurbishment of shows. It forms part of the 32 historical websites which form the Wexford Heritage Trail. The Centre is leading a 3-yr programme to analyze the battlefield on Vinegar Hill, to pick out the extent of the battlefield, locations of preventing, brief systems, weapons, other artefacts, and the vicinity of feasible mass graves.
