Letterkenny Town Park
About Letterkenny Town Park
Letterkenny Town Park or Bernard Mc Glinchey Town Park, as it is formally known as, is a public park placed in Letterkenny, County Donegal. It is located at University Hospital Roundabout, adjoining to St. Conal's Hospital. The park is situated on the website of an 18th century forest. It became formally opened on 12 May 1999 with the aid of TD James Mc Daid. The theme of the 40,000 M2 Park is Peace.
The park is laid out with a herb lawn, flower beds, mature and new trees, an orchard place, playing areas, bowling green, walks and playgrounds, has leaf-fashioned gates at numerous access points and has a tea room which opened in 2008. In 2008 Letterkenny Town Council have been urged to carry out a overview of the park's security following a public sex act and bouts of anti-social behavior, bullying, and vandalism. In January 2017, vandals pooed on a children's slide inside the park. The human excrement became first observed whilst a set of dad and mom scented a disgusting odour inside the vicinity. They later determined that the poo had been smeared on the interior of the slide.
