Drogheda is one of the oldest cities in Ireland. It is understood for its tourism and as a centre of enterprise and hospital therapy. Drogheda has a population of approximately 41,000 inhabitants, making it the 1/3 biggest metropolis through population in all of Ireland. It is the final bridging point on the River Boyne before it enters the Irish Sea. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of New grange is located 8 km west of the metropolis.
The town is situated in a place with an abundance of archaeological monuments courting from the Neolithic length onwards, of which the massive Passage Tombs of New grange, Knowth, and Dowth are in all likelihood the pleasant known. The fantastic density of archaeological sites of the prehistoric and Early Christian durations exposed in recent years in the path of improvement, extensively for the duration of creation of the Northern Motorway: Gormanston to Monasterboice, or 'Drogheda Bypass', have proven that the hinterland of Drogheda has been a settled panorama for millennia.
