About County Museum Dundalk
County Museum Dundalk is a county museum positioned in Dundalk which documents the records of County Louth. The museum is housed inside the Carroll Centre at Roden Place in Jocelyn Street, in a restored 18th century warehouse which becomes once part of Dundalk Distillery. The constructing wherein the museum is located became at the start the grain save of a distillery hooked up in 1780. The distillery ceased distilling in 1926, and the grain keep was subsequently purchased via P.J. Carroll & Co., a tobacco organization for use as a warehouse or bond shop. With the decline in cigarette income, the warehouse was provided to the Dundalk Urban District Council in 1989 at the proviso that it be used as an interpretative centre.
The refurbished and restored building became opened in 1994 and is funded by using Dundalk Town Council.
