About Charleville Castle

Charleville Castle is a Gothic-fashion castle located in County Offaly, Ireland, bordering the town of Tullamore, close to the River Clodiagh. It is considered one of the greatest of its type in the country. The first mansion residence to be constructed at the website online of Charleville castle turned into through Thomas Moore circa 1641. The property passed through the hands of Charles Moore, Lord Tullamore, grandson of Thomas, and while he died in 1674 it went through his sister Jane to Charles William Bury. Charles William become later created the 1st Earl of Charleville in a 2d creation of the name.

The new earl decided to build a brand new residence at the property. Commissioned in 1798, it become designed by using Francis Johnston, and become built between 1800 and 1812.
