About Carrigaline
Carrigaline is a town and civil parish in County Cork, Ireland, situated on the River Owenabue. It is 14 km south of Cork town at the R611 regional road, which passes via the metropolis, and simply off the N28 countrywide number one direction to Ringaskiddy. Carrigaline grew unexpectedly inside the overdue 20th century, from a village of a few hundred human beings right into a thriving commuter town, despite the fact that many locals still seek advice from it as "the village". The city is one of the key gateways to west Cork, in particular for those who arrive by way of ferry from France.
The town had the arena-famous Carrigaline Pottery, situated in Main Street, which closed in 1979, but became ultimately re-opened and run as a co-operative for decades after that. Unusually for an Irish village of its then size, it had a small cinema, owned and run with the aid of the Cogan family. Neither the pottery nor the cinema exist today. The Carrigdhoun Weekly newspaper is published in Carrigaline.
