About Bandon
Bandon is a metropolis in County Cork, Ireland. It lies at the River Bandon among two hills. The name in Irish method Bridge of the Bandon, a reference to the starting place of the metropolis as a crossing-factor on the river. In 2004 Bandon celebrated its quater centenary. The city, every now and then referred to as the Gateway to West Cork, had a population of 6,957 on the 2016 census. Bandon is inside the Cork South-West constituency, which has 3 seats.
In September 1588, at the begin of the Plantation of Munster, Phane Beecher of London obtained, as Undertaker, the seignory of Castlemahon. It become in this seignory that the metropolis of Bandon became shaped in 1604 with the aid of Phane Beecher's son and heir Henry Beecher, together with different English settlers John Shipward, William Newce and John Archdeacon. The authentic settlers in Beecher's seignory came from numerous places in England. Originally the metropolis proper was inhabited completely by Protestants, as a through-law were handed stating "That no Roman Catholic be accepted to reside in the metropolis". A protective wall extended for about a mile across the town.
