About Ardee
Ardee is a metropolis and town land in County Louth, Ireland. It is placed at the intersection of the N2, N52, and N33 roads. The metropolis indicates evidence of development from the thirteenth century onward but as a end result the continued development of the town in view that then much of the fabric of the medieval town has been removed. Originally referred to as Atherdee, the town’s call is from the Irish Ath Fhirdia the Ford of Ferdia which itself is derived from the fabled four-day conflict among Cuchulainn and Ferdia, for the defense of Ulster from Queen Maeve of Connacht. It is stated Ferdia fell after 4 days of war, and is buried at the southern banks of the river along the Riverside Walk.
A depiction of the pair is placed on Bridge Street in the city as a bronze statue. Ardee is a high instance of a medieval ‘walled metropolis’, many of which can be found across Ireland. With its distinct, imperative Main Street and lengthy slender houses extending far away from the primary street on both aspect, it holds some of the properties related to the kind.
