De Javasche Bank

This building was formerly called De Javasche Bank. It now becomes the head office of Bank Indonesia branch of Aceh. Located on Jalan Cut Meutia number 15, this building directly opposite the Aceh River which divides the city of Banda Aceh. This building was built in 1918 by the Government of the Netherlands East Indies.

When the tsunami hit Aceh in December 2004, the building was not damaged. While the building around it, completely destroyed. This building is one of the buildings that remain standing majestic. While other Dutch heritage buildings have been torn down or modernized.
