About Benteng Kuto Besak
Kuto Besak, additionally Benteng Kuto Besak is an eighteenth century kraton in Palembang, Indonesia. Kuto Besak was the focal point of the Sultanate of Palembang before its annulment by the Dutch pilgrim government. The post was built in 1780 and took seventeen years to finish. Kuto Besak was initiated in 1797, marked by the exchange of the imperial living arrangement from the more seasoned Kuto Lamo to Kuto Be. In 1651, the kraton was assaulted by the Dutch East India Company who needed to consume the exchange Palembang. The assault crushed the sustained royal residence of Kuto Gawang and thus, the illustrious royal residence was exchanged to another place at Kraton Beringin Janggut.
Amid the rule of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin, the kraton was moved again to Kraton Kuto Lama.
