About War Memorial Museum

A huge building that houses relics of the past , the War Memorial Museum is dedicated to the ‘Battle of Kohima, An array of guns, pots-pans, artillery and uniforms all used during the Second World War fought between the Japanese and the British is at display. More than 3,000 Japanese and 4,000 British casualties resulted from this bloody battle.

It’s a humbling experience to walk through the cemetery with terraced graves and touching epitaphs. Near the entrance is a memorial to the 2nd Division. It bears the inscription; " When you go home, tell them of us, and say ‘For your tomorrow, we gave our today.’
