Viruddhachalam is a region and taluk central command in Cuddalore locale in the Indian province of Tamil Nadu. The old name of this town is Thirumudhukundram. Starting at 2011, the town had a populace of 73,585.
The name Vriddhachalam is acquired from two Sanskrit words - vriddham which signifies "old" and achalam which signifies "mountain". Essentially it has a name as Pazhamalai, unadulterated tamil.
