Suriyanar Koil

Suriyanar Koil temple is situated in Thanjavur District Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Sun god. Swamimalai is about 21km far from this temple. The presiding deity is Suriyanar. The temple also has separate shrines for eight planet deities. This temple is one of the nine Navagraha temples in Tamil Nadu. There are only few historic temples which are dedicated to Sun god in our country. This temple was built during the rule of Kulottunga Choladeva in 11th Century. This the temple has a five-tiered rajagopuram. Temple opening times is from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m .You can come here with your family. So, it is worth visiting this place once in life time .
