About Shanti stupa

The Shanti stupa is a white colored dome-like structure which has been built and dedicated to the Buddist religion. The stupa is built on top of the hill called Chamspa in Leh. Tourists every year come here not only to see the beautiful piece of art in the form of it but also because of the landscape and grand mountains surrounding it.
Bhiksu Gyomo Nakamura is a Japanese Buddhist of built this stupa in the year of 1991. It was built by the collaboration of the Buddhists of Ladakh and that of Japan so as to mark the completion of 2500 years of Buddhism and the make it a symbol of peace and love.
There is a statue of Buddha which is at the base of it and other than that there are paintings and relics of Buddhism. Stupa becomes even more spectacular during a full moonlight when the stupa starts glowing.
