Salem Willows Park
About Salem Willows Park
Salem Willows is an oceanfront neighborhood and amusement park in Salem, Massachusetts. It is called for the European white willow timber planted there in 1801 to shape a shaded stroll for patients recovering at a close-by smallpox medical institution. The area have become a public park in 1858, and inside the twentieth century became a summer vacation spot for residents of Boston's North Shore, many of whom escaped the heat of the metropolis on newly popular streetcars.
Many establishments on Restaurant Row, the park's north side, served clean seafood, at the same time as a carousel with carved flying horses became another special attraction at an entertainment park called Kiddieland that survives to this present day with some different rides which are for youngsters best, in addition to a miniature golfing direction. Although the last of the unique restaurants closed inside the 1960s, there are still severa take-out stands to pick out from. An ice cream stand close to the sea is one of these stands.
