Perunna Subrahmanya Swami Temple is a Hindu sanctuary situated in Changanacherry. The god of the sanctuary is Murugan one of the three children of Lord Shiva. This is the principal sanctuary in Kerala which was opened to all Hindus independent of the standing, according to the request of Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma of Travancore kingdom. Hearing this episode Mohandas Gandhi amid his first visit to Kerala went to the sanctuary and loved the Muruga for quite a long time.
