Patiala

Patiala is the 4th largest city in Punjab state, situated in the southeastern part of the golden land, in the Malwa region. The princely state, Patiala is the capital of PEPSU Punjab and East Punjab States Union.

The city of Patiala has a high historical and cultural significance. Surrounded by many architectural marvels and rich heritage, it is a favourite tourist place for those travelling to Punjab. The Patiala state was founded by Baba Ala Singh of Sindhu dynasty.

Patiala being a princely state has many old palaces like Moti Bagh Palace, Quila Androon, Rang Mahal and Sheesh Mahal. Other than culture and heritage, Patiala can be a paradise for shopaholic. Colorful clothes and dresses line the stores and tourists can shop there.

Patiala is famous for the 5 P's. They are Pag, Paranda, Patiala and Patiala peg. Pag is the Sikh turban while Paranda is a tasselled tag braid. Patiala is a popular dress for woman while Patiala peg is a popular liquor drink.

Patiala is also the perfect place for foodies. Dotted with little restaurants and dhabas, one can savour the lip smacking traditional food there, butter chicken and lassi being the most famous.
