Papanasam

Papanasam is a small town in Ambasamudram taluk of Tirunelveli locale in Tamilnadu which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tirunelveli. This small town has a sanctuary called the Papanasam Sivan Temple which lies on the banks of Thamirabarani River. Temple is built in the Dravidian style of engineering, devoted to Lord Shiva and his associate Parvati who are revered as Papanasanathar and Ulagammai Individually. This is where Saint Agasthiyar got the Kalyana philosophy of Lord Shiva and Parvati alongside his better half Lopamudra.

Another attraction of this town is the Papanasam Dam, otherwise called the Thamirabarani River Dam. It has been accepted for the British time and is encompassed by high mountains and immense trees. There is Papanasam Hydroelectric Power Plant with an outline limit of 28 MW is arranged close-by. Otherwise called Agasthiyar Falls, Papanasam Falls on Thamirabarani River is another fascination in Papanasam. This cascades drop down from a tallness of 120 m, with the rough dividers of Podhigai Hills. The Stream Thamirabarani achieves the fields at Papanasam. The Papanasam Falls are allowed to wash down the wrongdoings of the people. The mountains around Papanasam are home to 108 herbs which are not found anyplace else on the planet.
