About Nawabganj
Nawabganj Town in Bareli District, North-Western Provinces, and central station of Nawabganj tahsil; arranged on the metalled street among Bareli and Pilibhit. In 1365, Firoz Tughlak attacked Kather, as Rohilkhand was then called. In the season of Akbar , Rohilkhand or Kather was partitioned into two Sarkars or sirkars containing 60 mehals or parganas. Sambhal sarkar was under Delhi Subah and Budaun sarkar was under Awadh Subah. Bareilly was one of the mahals under Budaun sarkar covering a region of 27,61,227 Bighas.
After First Rohilla War, Rohilkhand tumbled to Awadh and later in the hands of East India Company after settlement of 1801 with Nawab Saadat Ali Khan II. In 1801-2, Rohilkhand was partitioned into two locale, Bareilly and Moradabad. A while later, a few new locale were cut out of Rohilkhand and a few sections were exchanged to different areas. In 1821, the Budaun District was framed and around the same time a Tehsildaree was set up at Nawabganj and another Nawabganj pargana was shaped by taking towns from Crore, Bisalpur, and Pilibhit covering a zone in excess of 1,40,000 sections of land with almost 1,00,000 sections of land of developed land.
