About Navagraha Temple

Navagraha Temple devoted to Navagraha the nine principal celestial bodies of Hindu astronomy. These celestial our bodies are named Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Brihaspati, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu. Many temples in South India incorporate a shrine committed to the Navagrahas. However, the time period Navagraha temples refers to a cluster of 9 separate temples, every an abode of one of the Navagrahas. The Navagraha Temple is located on the top of Chitrasal Hill, in Guwahati town, Assam, India.

Enshrined in this temple are nine Shivalingams, representing the 9 Celestial bodies, every protected with a colored garment symbolic of each of the celestial our bodies, with a Shivaligam inside the centre symbolising the Sun. The Navagraha temple changed into built via Ahom King Rajeswar Singha inside the past due 18th century. It has been renovated these days throughout the past due 1923-45.
