About Nathula Pass

Nathula Pass is a high mountain pass in the Himalayas. It was a part of the ancient Silk Route. This facilitated trade between India and Tibet.

The pass connects the Indian state of Sikkim with China's Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located at an elevation of 4,310 meters above sea-level. From this height, one can see a panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountains, snow clad and magnificent. On the way to Nathula, there is a place named Thegu which has an ATM. This is the highest altitude ATM in the world. Because of the altitude, oxygen levels may be low. Since Nathula is a protected area, tourists will be required to obtain a permit for visiting.
