About Nagarjunasagar
Nagarjunsagar is a dam that is located in the State of Andhra Pradesh. It is a multi -purpose project that is located in the Krishna River. The dam is located near the village of Nadikonda also known as Hill Colony. The reservoir of the Nagarjunsagar dam is considered to be one of the biggest man made reservoirs in the world. Nagarjunakonda is an island that is located in the reservoir and there are many Buddhist inscriptions and carvings that can be seen in the village. The island is famous for its historical importance and can be reached only by boats. Nandikonda is a town that was located in the banks of the River Krishna. It was submerged during the construction of the dam and the entire population was shifted to the hill colony.
The reservoir of the Nagarjunsagar Dam is surrounded by forests and many people travel down the river to take in the beautiful scenery. The place has extreme weather conditions and rainfall is also extensive during the monsoon season, so much so that the dam overflows during this time and it is a beautiful sight. There are many interesting places to see in the nearby areas and the Nagarjunsagar Dam is a good place to visit during the winter season. Hill Colony can be reached using the steam boat service.

The closest airport is located at Hyderabad and it is situated around 150 km from the Dam. Hyderabad is well connected to most of the cities in the country and there are frequent flights that arrive from ious international countries as well. Since the airport is extremely well connected this is the best option for those who are arriving by air. Prepaid taxis and private taxis are available from the Hyderabad Airport.
RAIL
Nagarjunsagar is well connected by rail as well and the railway station is situated near the Dam. There are many trains that arrive from different parts of the State. Travelling by rail is a good option as it is cheap and comfortable.
ROAD
Local as well as state transport buses run from ious cities across the state to Nagarjunsagar.
