About Muchalinda Lake

The Muchalinda Lake is situated in next to the main temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. According to mythological tales, it is said that Lord Buddha was meditating and he was so engrossing in his meditation that the storm which was created in the lake which disturb him in his meditation was comforted by Muchalinda or the snake king by protecting Lord Buddha to continue with his meditation. Thereby one may found that in the center of the lake where a sculpture of hood protecting Lord Buddha, who is meditating on a snake coil.

The lake is of great importance to the community and one is found relaxing under the lake side and enjoy the serenity and tranquility of the place. the lake held one interesting element as on the boundary of the lake one may found tales inscribe in the rocks which attracts every tourist. The beautification of the lake emerges at night when the place is décor with light giving a place much more to relish
