Moti Bagh Palace

The Old Moti Bagh Palace is among the oldest buildings in Patiala. It is another example of architectural marvels in Patiala. It is the residence of the royal family of Patiala and is currently being used as the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports. It was constructed back in 1847 by Maharaja Narendra Singh in about 5 lakhs.

It is among the largest residential buildings in the world and the design is loosely based on the structural design of the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore. There are numerous terraces, water ways, well adorned gardens in the palace where one could take a small nature walk.

The front area of the palace is beautifully decorated in Rajasthani style with jharokhas and chattris. Thousands of tourists visit the palace to look at the architectural expertise and the antique art pieces.
