About Monolithic bull

The Monolithic bull in Hampi is a grand piece of architecture. The spectacular and large shape of the Monolithic bull is regionally named as Yeduru Basavanna or Nandi. As consistent with Hindu mythology, Nandi is the vehicle of Lord Shiva. Contradictory to its tough texture, the large statue of Nandi draws a lot of traffic. The statue of the Monolithic bull is positioned just opposite to the Virupaksha temple in Hampi. In the Hindu mythology, sage Shilada desired an immortal baby and no aside from Lord Shiva could grant him that desire.
Over this, Lord Indra advised him to worship the almighty Shiva. Shilada commenced worshipping Shiva for centuries, inspired by means of this, the Lord granted him his wish of an immortal baby. The immortal creature turned into Nandi, the bull created out of Shiva’s mere bones. With the sort of sacred fame, Nandi became the vehicle of Lord Shiva and people started out worshipping it.
