14 km from Dantewada, on the way to Bacheli, is the small village of Gama Wada. There are huge stone pillars which rise here, known as the Memory Pillars of Gamawada. These are centuries old. They were built to commemorate the relatives and elders of the local inhabitants. To tourists, they are a symbol of the age old tradition of the tribals.
