About Marwar
Marwar is a district of southwestern Rajasthan state in North Western India. It lies halfway in the Thar Desert. The word 'maru' is Sanskrit for desert. In Rajasthani lingo, "wad" implies a specific region. English interpretation of the word 'mar' is 'the locale of desert’. Hieun Tsang depicted a kingdom in Rajasthan which he calls Ku-cha-lo or Gurjara to a great extent in light of the fact that the entire of the marwar zone of rajasthan was pretty much related to the Gurjars, as right on time as the sixth or seventh century.
The Gurjara Pratihara, a Rajput group, built up a kingdom in Marwar in the sixth century, with a capital at Mandore, 9 km from present-day Jodhpur. The demolished city of Osian or Ossian, 65 km from Jodhpur, was a critical religious focal point of the Pratihara time frame. The regal Rathore group of Jodhpur guarantee drop from the renowned Rashtrakuta tradition. On the fall of the Rashtrakuta administration they relocated north to Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh.
