About Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary

An environmental delicate region, situated at the focal point of Kochi, Kerala, the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary, is given the title of the 'Green Lung of Kochi'. This asylum is associated with the Kochi backwaters through the shallow tidal lake. This asylum has an aggregate zone traverse of 2.74 hectares.
Mangalavanam, being the settling ground for some, fascinating transitory winged animals is a heaven for all flying creature watchers. One can see winged creatures, for example, Common Redshank, Common Greenshank, Brahminy Kite; White breasted Waterhen and Marsh Sandpiper and some more. Other than this, vertebrates like Indian flying fox painted Bat, Bandicota, Eurasian Otter, and Dusky Palm Squirrel; creatures of land and water like Limnonectes limnocharis; and angles like Malabar Swamp Eel, Blackline Rasbora and so forth are found here.
