About Malerkotla
Malerkotla is a city and a city chamber in Sangrur locale in the Indian territory of Punjab. It was the seat of the eponymous august state amid the British Raj. The state acquiesced unto the association of India in 1947 and was converged with other close-by august states to make the Patiala and East Punjab States' Union PEPSU. At the point when that political element was revamped in 1956, the regions of the past province of Malerkotla turned out to be a piece of Punjab.
It is situated on the Sangrur-Ludhiana State Highway and lies on the auxiliary Ludhiana-Delhi railroad line. It is around 50 kilometers from Ludhiana and 35 kilometers from Sangrur in Sangrur locale. Malerkotla, a Muslim greater part state was set up in 1454 A.D. by Sheik Sadruddin-I-Jahan from Afghanistan, and was administered by his Sherwani descendents. The State of Malerkotla was set up in 1600 A.D. It is significant that amid the 1947 uproars when Punjab was on fire, the State of Malerkotla did not observe a solitary episode of brutality; through everything, it remained a solitary island of peace.
