About Maharaj Bagh and zoo

Maharaj Bagh and zoo is the central zoo in Nagpur, located in the heart of the city and built on the garden of the Bhonsle and Maratha rulers of the city. The zoo is under the Central Zoo Authority CZA of India.

The zoo houses many leopards, lions, tigers, peacock and other animals. A pair of leopards- Julie and Gopal lived in the zoo and were a major attraction there. They died of old age and left behind their little cub, which is kept in the zoo.
