About Mahamaham Tank

Mahamaham Tank is located in the town of Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu which is considered to be the biggest tanks in the whole of Tamil Nadu.

The tank is gulfed with sixteen small shrines or to the local terminology Mandapams where it resides twenty one wells inside it. Ragunatha Nayak of Thanjavor is the builder of these sixteen shrines and surrounded it with stones. There are many deities which are assigned in the Mandapams which give an identity to it. The place is really enthralling as with the construction and with vastness of it. One must visit the place to glance such cultural richness of Tamil Nadu.
