Kiratpur

Kiratpur otherwise called Kiratpur Sahib is a town in Rupnagar area, Punjab, India. The town is the area of the Gurdwara Patal Puri where Sikhs take fiery remains of their dead. Kiratpur Sahib was built up in 1627 by the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib ji, who purchased the land from Raja Tara Chand of Kehloor through his child, Baba Gurditta. The place is likewise connected with the memory of a Muslim holy person, Pir Buddan Shah. It is arranged on the bank of the Sutlej around 10 km south of Anandpur, around 30 km north of Rupnagar and 90 km from Chandigarh on the Nangal-Rupnagar-Chandigarh street NH21.
