About Kathok Lake
Kathok Lake is referred to as ‘Kathok Tsho’ inside the neighborhood language, is a captivating lake positioned inside the West part of Sikkim at Yuksom. It is considered as the soul lake of Lama Kathok Kuntu Zangpo, who pioneered in introducing Buddhism to this lovely land in 1642 A.D. This lake were sanctified through him to use it as a medium to hook up with God for oracular practices. And to hold its sanctity, a purification ceremony ‘Tru-sol’ is executed right here through lamas every year. The crystal clean water of this serene lake displays the mesmerising beauty of the mountains and the clouds looming over them.
The prayer flags standing on its shore deliver a first-class assessment to the pasture land and the lush green bushes across the lake. Hence, Kathok Lake is taken into consideration as the favorite hotspot for the travelers to spend some non violent time in solitude, even as the passionate photographers can click some attractive images with no greater efforts. The months from March - May is considered to be the first-class time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings around the lake amidst the pleasant climate.
