Katarmal Sun Temple

At a separation of 20 km from Almora and 30 km from Ranikhet, Katarmal Sun Temple is an old Hindu temple arranged at Katarmal town in Almora region of Uttarakhand. Katarmal Temple is devoted to Lord Burhadita or Vriddhaditya the old Sun God and is one of the acclaimed authentic spots of Kumaon slopes in Uttarakhand.

The present picture of Surya in the sanctuary goes back to twelfth century. Worked in the ninth century by Katarmalla, a Katyuri lord, this temple is roosted at a height of 2116 m. The Sun Temple is noted for its eminent design and is a landmark of chronicled significance.

The sanctuary complex has one primary temple encompassed by 45 littler wonderfully cut temples. The symbols of Shiva-Parvati and Lakshmi-Narayana can likewise be seen in this temple. The building faces the east in a way with the end goal that the principal beams of the sun fall on the Shiva Lingam.
