Karla
About Karla
Karla is a town on the thruway amongst Pune and Mumbai in southern Maharashtra in India. It is on a noteworthy exchange course that keeps running from the Arabian Sea eastbound, into the Deccan. Karla's area in Maharashtra places it in a locale that is the division between North India and South India.
The residential area is most celebrated for the Karla Caves — a first century BC, Buddhist sanctuary complex or chaityas cut out of stone. At 40 m 130 ft long and 15 m 49 ft in stature, it is the biggest such chaitya in India. The walkway of the sanctuary is flanked by 37 columns that are finished with stooping elephants.
